It appears that another development is set to be created in the steadily growing village of Elmswell.
Plans for 27 homes off Warren Lane have been given the green light to be approved by Mid Suffolk District Council.
Members of the council’s planning committee are to meet on Wednesday to discuss the scheme which includes nine affordable homes.
But the controversial project has resulted a number of objections with them coming from the parish council along with 22 from people living in the area.
Elmswell Parish Council said the plan “offers an unbalanced housing mix in an unsustainable location. Such proposals should, given the current bulwark offered by the MSDC five-year Housing Supply figure, be held in abeyance.”
And one local resident said: “Oh no! Not another development in our village. It’s just appears that any parcel of land is being grabbed for housing development. When will it ever end?”
But officers are recommending that it be approved considering the site’s use for “development in principle” is considered to be “properly established” by officers.
The report from planning officers adds that vehicular access to the development and the internal road serving the homes would be “appropriate”.
They added the plans by the applicant Hartog Hutton Ltd, are “acceptable” in regards to highways considerations.
“The layout and design of dwellings is felt to be a sensitive response to site context, bearing in mind the amount of residential development located in the vicinity and the visual relationship that would exist between existing and proposed,” the report from officers adds.
A range of section 106 contributions are proposed as part of the recommendation of approval, including a community facilities contribution, supporting the provision of a cycle link between Elmswell and Woolpit and a contribution for a new primary school.
