Traffic to be diverted through Newmarket as roadworks take place on A14
The A14 is to be closed overnight next week for technology work to be carried out on the dual carriageway resulting in diversions through Newmarket.
The eastbound side of the road bound for Bury St Edmunds will be shut on Tuesday, March 17, from 8pm to 6am the following day, between the Fordham Road junction and the Kentford junction.
National Highways are carrying out the work and they say it is needed “to maintain and repair the equipment we use to monitor our network and manage traffic flows.”
Traffic using the A14 eastwards will exit the Fordham Road junction and travel towards Newmarket town centre where they will exit the roundabout onto the A1304 Bury Road.
From there vehicles will take the B1506 through Kentford and re-join the A14.
See map above.
Traffic travelling along the A11 will come off at the Six Mile Bottom junction, join the A1304 London Road and go through Newmarket town centre, along the Bury Road and join the A11 northbound at junction 38 of the A14.
