Roadworks to close the eastbound carriageway of the A14 overnight later this month

The A14 on the outskirts of Ipswich will be closed for two night later this month for work to be carried out by National Highways.

It will be shut eastbound, towards the Orwell Bridge, between Claydon and the Copdock interchange on Wednesday and Thursday, March 25 and 26, between 8pm and 6am.

Tom Bevan, the service delivery manager,  Operations East, for the highways organisation said: “We plan to carry out maintenance work on the A14 eastbound between junction 52 and 55.

“This maintenance work includes resurfacing, bridge joint repairs,  patching works and technology works.

“When we’ve finished this work, you’ll have a safer, smoother road with clearer markings.

“A well‑maintained bridge that stays safe and reliable, and technology that helps us manage traffic and keep journeys moving.”

A diversionary route will be put in place (see above) which will take traffic off the A14 at Claydon and take it along the B1113 through Sproughton, at the first roundabout after Sproughton take the first exit onto the A1071  and at the T-junction turn right onto the A1214 (London Road) and continue to junction 55 at Copdock roundabout where you can rejoin the A14 eastbound and continue your journey
