Orwell Bridge to close overnight for roadworks with long detour put in place
Traffic will be unable to cross the Orwell Bridge next week as roadworks are to take place.
The Felixstowe carriageway (eastbound side) will be shut for two nights from junction 55, the Copdock interchange, to junction 58 at Levington, starting on Monday, March 23, between 8pm and 6am.
The work includes resurfacing and patching, renewal of communications loops, drainage remedial activities such as sweeping and gully emptying, as well as barrier repairs.
Vehicles travelling east will have to come off at the Copdock interchange and follow the A1214 London Road and turn left at the A137 crossroads to remain on the A1214 Yarmouth Road taking the route along the north of Ipswich on the by pass via Valley Road and Colchester Road.
At Woodbridge Road East, turn left and continue on the A1214 towards the A12 at Martlesham. From there take the third exit and follow the A12 southbound to arrive at the A14 at junction 58 (Levington) where the diversion ends.
