Primary school pupils help to create a buzz at development in Barham

Pupils at Claydon Primary School have teamed up with developers Taylor Wimpey to help name Barham Meadows’ new beehive..

As part of the partnership the school has been busy naming the new beehive at Barham Meadows in Barham.

The winning design, named Barham Buzzers has been created into a sign and installed next to the beehive at the development.

Barham Meadows is showcasing Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to improving biodiversity and encouraging nature throughout their developments with their latest feature, Barham Buzzers beehive.

The pupils took part in a beehive naming competition in 2025, allowing the children to get in touch with their creativity and learn about biodiversity.

Donna O’Connor, the headteacher at Claydon Primary School, (pictured above) said: “We are so proud of all of our students for working so hard and taking part in Taylor Wimpey’s beehive naming competition.

“Our winner, Lillian in Year 6, is delighted to have her creativity displayed on site at the development.”

Olivia Peters, the head of Sales at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: “It’s always a pleasure to engage with local schools and encourage creativity in children, which is why we chose to team up with Claydon Primary School for our beehive naming competition.

“Bees are a vital part of our ecosystem to help maintain biodiversity, which is why Taylor Wimpey is always looking at ways to improve this for both our customers and the environment.

“The winning design, Barham Buzzers, will be featured on-site for residents and locals to enjoy at our Barham Meadows development. We look forward to watching the Barham Buzzers beehive thrive!”
