Man arrested in connection with stabbing in Bury St Edmunds is bailed
A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack in Bury St Edmunds has been bailed, as enquiries into the incident continue.
Police were called at just before 10.15pm on Sunday, March 22, to reports of a serious incident in Mortimer Road.
A man aged in his 40s was found to have sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
His condition is now described as serious but stable.
Five suspects wearing dark clothing and face coverings were reported fleeing the location.
On Wednesday, March 25, officers arrested a 44-year-old man in South London on suspicion of attempted murder.
The man – from the Brixton area – was initially taken into police custody in London and then transported back to Suffolk for questioning.
The suspect has now been bailed in connection with the Suffolk Police investigation until Friday, May 29, pending further enquiries.
Officers have been undertaking additional uniformed patrols in the area of Mortimer Road to provide reassurance to the local community.
Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police and this includes anyone driving in the area around the time that may have dash camera footage.
