Man arrested after serious assault in Bury St Edmunds
A 32-year-old man has been arrested after another man was assaulted in Bury St Edmunds earlier this morning (Sunday, May 31).
Police were called at 3.18am today, to reports that a man in his 40s had been assaulted at the BP petrol station shop, in Rougham Road.
Following a verbal altercation the victim was hit with a glass bottle, causing multiple lacerations which required hospital treatment.
The man has now been discharged from hospital.
A short time after the incident officers located the suspect on Southgate Street.
The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicious of causing grievous bodily harm and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre (pictured above) for questioning.
A scene was in place this morning but has now been lifted and the petrol station has fully reopened.
