Renewed appeal for information after sexual assault on runner last year
Detectives investigating a serious sexual assault that occurred in Stowmarket last year are renewing their appeal for information.
The assault took place between 5.45am and 6am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, along a path off Iliffe Way.
A woman aged in her 30s was out running when she was approached by an unknown man, who pulled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins in height, of medium build and was wearing a dark woolly beanie hat. He also wore a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and is reported to have smelled strongly of cigarettes and cannabis.
Officers have been progressing a number of lines of enquiry since the incident occurred.
To date, four people have been arrested in connection with the incident – three on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape, and one of assisting an offender.
They have been released without charge and will face no further action.
The victim continues to be supported by specialist trained officers and has been assisting detectives with their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Stuart Dolan-Allen said: “We remain focussed on securing justice for the victim, as she deserves, and are doing everything we can to support her.
“We have been exploring every line of enquiry available to us to identify the perpetrator and are renewing our appeal for assistance from members of the public to encourage anyone with new information to contact us.”
