Further arrests in attempted murder case

Three men have been arrested in connection with an attack in the Moreton Hall area of Bury St Edmunds in March this year.

One 19 year-old male and a 59 year-old male were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder yesterday (Wednesday, August 5), at addresses in London.

A third male, aged 51, was arrested in the Haverhill area, also on suspicion of attempted murder.

All three remain in police custody at this time.

Police were called at just before 10.15pm on Sunday, March 22, to reports of a serious incident in Mortimer Road.

A man aged in his 40s was found to have sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The victim spent several weeks in hospital before being well enough to be released.

Police believe this was a targeted incident, with no wider threat to the local community.

In early April, following police enquiries, Sebastian Smith, of Radford Road, in Lewisham, was charged with attempted murder.

Five other males, aged 24, 26 , 47 and 28 have all previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on bail pending further enquiries.
