Man arrested after discovery of £80,000 cannabis factory

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the discovery of a £80,000 cannabis factory, in Burstall.

Officers made the discovery on Thursday, May 21, after a warrant under section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act was carried out a property in Church Hill in the village.

Around 166 cannabis plants were located within the property – estimated to have a value of around £80,000.

On entering the premises officers also found hydroponics equipment and associated electrical paraphernalia.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Kevin Pickles, of Church Hill, Burstall, was subsequently charged today, Friday, May 22, for the offence of production of cannabis and for a similar offence from 2017. He was remanded and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, May 22.
