Invest in Suffolk Ambassadors webinar attracts over 70 attendees

Over 70 attendees joined the first Invest in Suffolk Ambassadors webinar, hosted by both Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, to hear from a panel of four leading experts about how businesses in the county were adapting to the challenges caused by COVID-19.

The panel comprised Carole Burman, managing director, MAD-HR; Stacy Clementson, head of operations, Fleximize; Ginny Idehen, head of business operations, Suffolk Mind; and Andy Walker, head of policy & research, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce.

Through a series of interactive discussions and question and answer sessions, the panel reflected as to how businesses reacted to the COVID-19 lockdown, the issues their staff might be facing both working from home and at their place of work and strategies for facilitating a successful return to work.

A video summary of the highlights of the webinar can be found here.

Nick Gowrley, Suffolk County Council’s cabinet member for economic development, housing and enterprise said: “It was wonderful to be able to attend the Invest in Suffolk Business Support Ambassadors’ webinar. Throughout this pandemic I have been impressed by both the fortitude and the innovation shown by Suffolk businesses of all sizes and types.  I have heard first hand stories from businesses creating brand new models of delivery, diversification of products and services – including the provision of crucial personal protective equipment, to executive teams returning to the shop floor to ensure the business survived the early days of lock down.

“Listening to all the business ambassadors today, I am confident that Suffolk, as a great county to do business, will come out the other side of this pandemic stronger than ever.”

And Ami Birrell, Suffolk Chamber’s events manager, added: “We were very pleased with the level of engagement during the webinar and the very positive feedback afterwards showed that the panel answered many of the questions that participants had going into the event. Suffolk Chamber has successfully migrated our events from physical locations to virtual experiences and if this particular webinar is anything to go by the experience is even richer for participants than before.”
