Band borne out of The Beautiful South to appear at The Apex next month

Borne from the ashes of The Beautiful South, The South (pictured above) will be performing all their massive hits when they appear at The Apex next month.

Formed in 1988, The Beautiful South had a string of hit singles such as “Old Red Eyes Is Back”, “Rotterdam”, “Don’t Marry Her”, “Perfect 10” and number one single, “A Little Time”.

After 20 years, 34 chart singles and 15 million record sales, when time was called on The Beautiful South in 2007, not everyone was ready to leave the party.

Beautiful South singer Alison Wheeler has been joined on vocal duties by sax player Gaz Birtles.

Keyboard player Andy Price has experience playing with Ska legend Laurel Aitken and Happy Mondays’ Bez; sax player Su Robinson has played with Prince Buster; trumpeter Gareth John has worked alongside members of the Happy Mondays, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Specials and many more.

Their live show promises to continue to celebrate and perform classic Beautiful South songs in a full band style, alongside original fresh, caustic pop from The South.

They are due to play at The Apex on Sunday, February 19, at 7.30pm contact the Box Office on 01284 758000 or see the website www.theapex.co.uk for more details or to book.
