A secondary school’s commitment to bringing the world into the classroom has seen them achieve an international school award.
County High School, in Bury St Edmunds, has received the British Council award, which recognises schools that do “exceptional work” in international education.
Headteacher Sally Kennedy said: “We are delighted to achieve this award in recognition of the fantastic work carried out across County High School.
“Activities such as the Berlin trip, a ski trip, Model United Nations, International Women’s Day, Japanese club and a letter exchange with a school in Malawi have all contributed to this award.”
Last year, the school welcomed students from Japan and last week a similar exchange programme was run with a school in Madrid.
Over 6,000 International School Awards have been presented to successful schools in the UK since the scheme began in 1999.
Scott McDonald, chief executive of the British Council, said: “The International School Award is a chance for schools to be recognised for their important work in bringing the world into their classrooms.
“The school has earned this prestigious award through its inspirational international work and links with schools abroad.”
