Stevie Wonder tribute act on stage at The Apex next month
The Wonder of Stevie celebrates the genius of Stevie Wonder, with vocalist, Noel McCalla, award-winning saxophonist, Derek Nash, (both pictured above) and a band of world-class musicians.
Following previous sold out shows in London’s top jazz venues, they return to The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, next month, to play a wide-ranging catalogue of Stevie’s hits, including dance classics “Superstition”, “For Once in my Life” and “Isn’t She Lovely”, and beautiful arrangements of “My Cherie Amour” and “Overjoyed”.
For more than 19 years, Noel’s vocals were featured with the iconic Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and his long association with the Morrisey Mullen Band earned him acclaim as “one of Britain’s best Soul Singers”.
Derek has played in Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004 and is also a member of the Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion.
He has won several British Jazz Awards throughout his career and has performed with Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Amy Winehouse and many more.
Their band features musicians who have previously performed with a wide variety of music legends including Rod Stewart, The Bee Gees, Paul McCartney, David Gilmour, Nile Rodgers, Martha Reeves, Chaka Khan and Alfie Boe.
The Wonder of Stevie is at The Apex on Thursday, October 10, at 7.30pm.
