Suffolk Punch horses to go on display at National Horseracing Museum

The National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket, the home of British Horseracing, is hosting within its grounds two displays of Suffolk Punches, a rare breed of work horse on Sunday, October 6.

Visitors are invited to come and enjoy one of the demonstrations of this breed of work horse – a breed that is considered more endangered than the Giant Panda.

On show to onlookers, seated in the covered viewing gallery of the museum’s Peter O’Sullevan Arena, will be the sheer strength and beauty of these chestnut-coloured gentle giants.

The two demonstrations, which come courtesy of the Suffolk Horse Society, will take place at 11am and 2.30pm.

Set to be a great occasion for both the seasoned horse enthusiast and the curious newcomer, each display will include a special opportunity to meet the horses and learn more about this world-famous breed.

Entrance is included within the £15 cost of general admission. This gives visitors access to all areas including the National Horseracing Museum, Palace House and the Rothschild Yard, where they can meet retired racehorses.

Alternatively, visitors can pay just £5 for access to the Suffolk Punch Horses Display and outdoor areas of the museum site. Children under 16 and annual pass holders go free.
