Gold Award for National Horse Racing Museum from VisitEngland

The National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket, (pictured above) which tells the story of horseracing from its earliest origins to the global phenomenon it is today, has won a Gold Award in the VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Accolades 2023-24.
It is the only visitor attraction in Suffolk to make the coveted list.
Concurrently, East Anglia has secured a top spot in Lonely Planet’s Best of Travel 2025 and is among the top 10 regions to visit in 2025.

The VisitEngland Awards recognise excellence within the domestic visitor attraction sector, with 72 attractions nationwide receiving the prestigious accolade.

They are judged on what makes an outstanding visitor attraction across five categories including: “Welcome”, “Quality Food and Drink”, “Hidden Gem”, ‘”Best Told Story” and a “Gold” standard for overall excellence.

Tracey Harding, manager of the National Horse Racing Museum, said: “We are thrilled to receive this award which was judged on the performance of the museum over the past 12 months; the credit lies with our dedicated and innovative team.

“We are excited to remain at the top of our game over the year ahead, at a time when East Anglia is firmly in the spotlight.”
East Anglia was the only UK destination to make it into the Lonely Planet’s Best of Travel 2025 list.

VisitEngland director, Andrew Stokes, said: “These accolades highlight the wonderful visitor experiences provided by English attractions, from the warmest of welcomes to amazing food and drink, from great storytelling to outstanding customer service.”

Now in their 10th year, VisitEngland’s Visitor Attraction Accolades cover a range of tourism attractions from historic houses, gardens, country parks and farm attractions to galleries, museums, churches and cathedrals.

Tickets for the National Horse Racing Museum (www.nhrm.co.uk) cost £15, children under 16 are free of charge and is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
