St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s annual Christmas Market to return
St Edmundsbury Cathedral’s annual Christmas Market will be held from Thursday to Saturday, November 28 to 30.
Doors will open from 10am to 4.30 pm each day and this year there will be an entry fee of £1.
A variety of stallholders from Suffolk and beyond will join to showcase their products, with some familiar faces as well as new businesses.
There will be over 50 stalls, including those selling gifts, jewellery, baked goods, alcohol and woodcrafts.
Visitors will get the chance to browse stalls while also taking in the beautiful setting of the Cathedral.
In addition to the shopping experience, there are plans for entertainment for visitors from local schools and performers.
“The Cathedral Christmas Market is a highlight for us here at St Edmundsbury but also for the town as a whole,” James Stark, head verger and events manager at St Edmundsbury Cathedral said.
“It really kicks off the festive period alongside other events in Bury St Edmunds, like the light switch on and Glo in the Arc. We’re looking forward to welcoming local shoppers and visitors.”
Special Tower Tours will be running during the Christmas Market.
Tower Tours will be available to pre-book via Eventbrite and are available 11am on Thursday and Friday and 10.30am on Saturday. These tours are a great experience offering a unique look behind the walls of the Cathedral.
The pinnacle of the tour comes following the ascent of the Cathedral tower, which at 202 steps offers unparalleled views of the Abbey Gardens and town beyond.
Tours are £12 per person and are the last opportunity to climb the tower before March 2024 as Tower Tours go on its winter break.
