The Leaping Hare restaurant celebrates Thanksgiving with a taste of the Deep South in the heart of Suffolk
This November, The Leaping Hare Restaurant, (pictured above) at Wyken Vineyards, near Bury St Edmunds, is inviting diners to its annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
Carla Carlisle, the fourth generation to operate Wyken Estate, founded The Leaping Hare over 26 years ago.
Born in the Mississippi Delta, in America’s Deep South, each year she pays homage to her heritage with a Thanksgiving feast at The Leaping Hare Restaurant.
On November 28, it will serve a three-course Thanksgiving dinner that blends Suffolk produce with ingredients with a distinctly Southern flair.
Each year, Carla brings the time-honoured tradition of Thanksgiving to life, combining American culinary classics with the farm’s sustainable, closed-loop system.
The centre piece of this year’s dinner will be Heritage Turkeys, raised in a small Suffolk flock, pan-smoked over grape vine prunings from Wyken’s vineyards.
These will be served with cornbread dressing, sweet potato casserole, and a medley of vegetables from the restaurant’s kitchen garden.
And for dessert, Southern Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Pecan Pie, a nod to Carla’s American upbringing, will be served with ice cream.
The three-course meal costs £55 per person and too book go to the website https://wykenvineyards.co.uk/restaurant/ or call 01359 250287.
