Eclectic mix of music coming to The Apex during the Spring

As usual, there’s an exciting and extensive programme of music coming up at The Apex, in Bury St Edmunds, in Spring.

Folk and country music fans are well catered for, with grandfathers of folk-rock Fairport Convention, and founders of Bellowhead Spiers & Boden.

Contemporary folk’s poster boy, Seth Lakeman returns to the venue, while Cara Dillon brings her acclaimed new material and a selection of old favourites.

You can enjoy the sound and fun of Ireland in The Irish House Party; Eddi Reader brings joyous life to all forms of song, whether traditional or contemporary; and Police Dog Hogan bring a bluegrass-country-folk sound.

There are also visits from the UK’s biggest country music stars, The Shires and Ward Thomas. 

Multi-award-winning British guitarist and vocalist, Laurence Jones has been hailed as “the future of the blues” by Classic Rock Magazine.

Smoky-voiced chanteuse Elles Bailey earned UK Blues Awards’ Vocalist of the Year and picked up Live Act of the Year at the UK Americana Awards.

Andy Fairweather Low found fame with massive hits like “Bend Me Shape Me”, “(If Paradise is) Half As Nice” and “Wide Eyed And Legless”; 10cc’s Graham Gouldman plays songs he has written for 10cc, The Hollies, Herman’s Hermits and the Yardbirds; and Newton Faulkner brings his signature guitar sound, weaved through with powerful vocals.

Most famed for his time with Focus and their mega-hit “Hocus Pocus”, Jan Akkerman will be playing his favourite Focus tunes and more recent compositions.

Budapest Café Orchestra (pictured above) perform an entertaining show of Eastern European folk music, evoking vivid images of fiddle maestros, Budapest café life and gypsy campfires.

Funk Soul Orchestral: James Brown vs Prince is a live high-energy celebration, led by the electrifying performance of Ashton Jones.

The Story of Guitar Heroes features 50 years of hits from the greatest guitarists; Nashville Nights pays tribute to modern country music; and 80s Mania is a multi-tribute homage to the 1980s.

Other great tribute shows include Money for Nothing (Dire Straits); T.Rextasy; Johnny Cash Roadshow; Purple Zeppelin; Barry Steele & Friends tribute to Roy Orbison; Chicago Blues Brothers RESPECT greatest hits tour; and high voltage rock from Live/Wire.
