Drug dealer jailed for two years and nine months after being arrested in Newmarket

A man who was arrested after his car was stopped in Newmarket has been jailed for drugs offences.
Mirhat Nela, (pictured above) an Albanian national of no fixed abode, was arrested by Suffolk Police’s Sentinel West team in Old Station Road on February 2, this year.
An empty deodorant container was found in his car. This had been used in a bid to hide 13 sealed bags of cocaine.
After his arrest, officers examined his phone which revealed evidence of drug dealing since January.
Nela, 36, was charged and remanded to court for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
He admitted the offence and on Friday, June 13, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court to two years and nine months imprisonment.
Sergeant George Laflin, of the Sentinel West Team, said “Despite Nela’s best efforts to conceal the drugs within an empty deodorant can, the team were tenacious in locating them.
“Due to the overwhelming evidence presented at court, he was left with no other option than to plead guilty.
“We see first-hand the misery that illicit drugs cause to our community, where they are also intrinsically linked to other crimes.
“Our job is to make Suffolk a hostile place for those that use the road network to commit crime and we will continue to ensure that those who choose to do so will be dealt with robustly.”
