Martin Cook – Elmswell Golf Champion 2025

The Annual Elmswell Golf Championship was held at Stowmarket Golf Club on Friday 3rd October 2025.

The weather was awful, drizzle, followed by heavy rain and very windy not typical conditions for 2025. 

Despite the conditions it was yet another great turnout of Elmswellian golfers and every one of the 30 players completed their rounds which was in keeping with the resilience of Elmswell residents. 

The golf was followed in the evening with a meal and prize presentations. The scores were very good considering the conditions.The event has been running for 22 years and does include some players who have moved away from the village but are past winners of the event.

First time attendee Martin Cook won the title of Elmswell Golf Champion and looks after the trophy for the next 12 months his score of 37 stableford points narrowly pipped past winner John Roberts who had 36 points followed by Dave Bicknell in third place with 34 points

The First Lady was Kim Davis.

Organisers David and Irene Overman did a wonderful job as always and the donation of prizes meant that nearly everyone seemed to get a prize. Dave said “Another great day despite the rain! See you all next year.”
