In 2024, Newmarket welcomed 1.6 million day trippers whilst overnight tourism grew by 15pc generating £7.7m in visitor spend.

The report also identified that tourism jobs equate to 7pic of all local employment.

Tracey Harding, CEO of Discover Newmarket said: “We are thrilled with the findings of this report which shows positive growth across the board.

“This is good news in what has been a particularly challenging period of trading and the uptick is a testament to the great businesses and fantastic tourism experiences we have here in the home of horse racing.

“While the latest figures demonstrate strong tourism growth there is always more to be done to ensure we continue to deliver sustainable tourism initiatives around culture, heritage and horse racing.

“We look forward to continuing to work with our tourism stakeholders and town centre partners to ensure that Newmarket is a great place to live, work and visit.”
