A14 to be closed next month for series of roadworks
A raft of work is set to be carried out on the A14 at three different location over the New Year.
They are taking place on the dual carriageway at Newmarket, on the outskirts of Ipswich and between Felixstowe and Trimley, with a series of diversions put in place.
The westbound side of the road at Felixstowe will close on Wednesday, January 7, from 8pm, until 6am, the following day, between junctions 62 at the Port of Felixstowe and junction 60 at Trimley St Mary, with traffic diverted along Trinity Avenue, Walton Avenue, Langer Road, Garrison Lane and Candlet Lane.
National Highways said that it is to carry out a series of “technology” work along the road.

And “technology” work is also to take place on the eastbound side of the road between junction 51 at the A140 near Coddenham and junction 52 at Claydon.
HGV vehicles have to face a long journey along the A14 to Bury St Edmunds, then the A134 to Sudbury and the A1017 towards Hadleigh and Ipswich to rejoin the A14 at the Copdock interchange.
Lighter vehicles have a shorter diversion through Barham and Claydon.
The road will be closed overnight on Monday, January 5, from 9pm to 5am the following day.

And the eastbound carriageway between junctions 37 at Studlands Park, on the outskirts of Newmarket, and junction 39 at Kentford, will also be closed over five nights starting on Monday, January 5, between 8pm and 6am the following day.
There will be resurfacing and bridge joint renewal work on the road.
To carry out the work National Highways will close the A14 eastbound between junctions 37 and 39 and divert traffic destined for Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Felixstowe via the A142 Fordham Road into the centre of Newmarket, along the A1304 and B1506 Bury Road through Kentford to join up with the A14.
Traffic heading north towards Mildenhall and Norwich will exit the A11 at the Six Mile Bottom junction and travel along the A1304 London Road, Barbara Stradbroke Avenue, Newmarket High Street and Bury Road to join the A11 northbound via junction 38 of the A14.
