ELMSWELL POST OFFICE TO CLOSE 28 JANUARY
A spokesperson for the Post Office said it had made the “difficult decision” to shut the Elmswell Post Office, after a staff member handed in their resignation.
The branch is due to shut on 28 January 2026. The Post Office has apologised for the short notice.
“Providing Post Office services on a temporary basis is not a sustainable long-term solution,” said a spokesperson.
“Following a review, we have made the difficult decision not to replace the Elmswell service with another temporary arrangement.
“We apologise to customers for the short notice and for any inconvenience caused to customers.”
Alternative branches in the area include Woolpit and Haughley. One resident said, “this is just another inconvenience for our ever expanding village”
This is a disappointment for all the residents of Elmswell, not least of all, parking is easier at the Elmswell Post Office, than in Woolpit.
