Jo Harman and Amba Tremain star in Soul Picnic at The Apex next month

Soul Picnic is a soul and blues revue, with world-class vocalists and a top house band who have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.

Originally founded by Brit award nominee Rumer, and recently selling out the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London, Soul Picnic is currently touring with four vocalists: Jo Harman, Polly Gibbons and the Tremain Sisters – Amba Tremain and Leonie Gale (pictured above).

Christened the “UK’s best female soul/blues voice” by the Daily Mirror, Jo Harman is a multi-million streaming, BBC Radio 2 play-listed artist.

Chris Rizik, editor of US based soultracks.com, the world’s biggest soul music resource said: “My goodness, is there anything that Jo Harman doesn’t make special?”

She is “one of the UK’s finest talents” according to Rag N Bone Man, and her voice “leaves you speechless’” in the opinion of Fun Lovin’ Criminals Huey Morgan on his BBC Radio show.

Amba Tremain’s vocal skills have been featured on notable dance hits and she has toured Europe as part of Boy George’s band.

Amba is a Gold Record awardee for her work on a posthumous album by Eva Cassidy.

Amba appeared on the 2025 edition of Britain’s Got Talent, getting praise and standing ovations from all four judges, with Simon Cowell commenting that “I don’t see a lot of singers like you, with real natural grit. It was brilliant.”

Polly Gibbons has countless nominations for Best Jazz Vocalist by the BBC and Jazz FM and won Best Jazz Artist Of The Year at the Boisdale Jazz Awards 2023.

Joss Stone said she was “really soulful’”, while US magazine Downbeat described her as a “female version of Gregory Porter.”

Amba’s sister Leonie Gale also acquired a gold record for her work on Eva Cassidy’s posthumous album.

After a decade or so as a backing singer, Leonie is now stepping out of the shadows as an artist in her own right.

Highly respected veteran author/broadcaster Clive Richardson attended the most recent Soul Picnic show at Ronnie Scott’s main room and said: “A gathering of great soul singers and musicians gracing the stage at a legendary venue in the Soul Picnic showcase – actually more like a soul banquet, and as great a night of soul music as I have witnessed in six decades.”

Soul Picnic will perform their own originals alongside well-known classics in a show reminiscent of the old Motown and Stax revues, but with a contemporary edge.
