Man bailed after air weapon incident
An 80-year-old man arrested following an incident involving an air weapon in Monks Eleigh has been bailed.
Police were called by the East of England Ambulance Service at just before 4.10pm on Thursday, February 26, to an address at The Street, following reports that a woman had been injured after a firearm, believed to be an air weapon, was discharged.
The victim, a 83-year-old woman, sustained a chest injury and was taken by land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where she remains.
Her condition is described as “serious but stable” at this time.
An 80-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre (pictured above) for questioning.
He has now been bailed with conditions to return to police on March 27.
At this early stage of the investigation, officers are not looking for anybody else in connection with the incident.
