Man dies in industrial accident at farm in Great Barton

All three emergency services were called out to a farm in Great Barton to an industrial accident.

Police reported that a man in his 70 died after it was believed he fell into a grain silo.

The incident took place just before 5pm on Monday, March 9.

An air ambulance was called alongside land ambulances and fire crews with the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) also attending the scene but the man died at the location, police  said.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 16.50 GMT on Monday, 2 March to reports of an industrial incident at a farm in Great Barton.

“We sent numerous resources, including the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, and worked alongside police and fire and rescue service colleagues.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical team, an adult man died at the scene.”

Officers are investigating alongside the Health and Safety Executive.

The force said a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
