A14 to shut overnight for four weeks for roadworks to take place
The A14 is set to be closed overnight for four weeks as workers carry out a series of tasks along the dual carriageway.
It will result in a long detour for traffic heading westwards with motorists being guided along the A140 Norwich road towards Diss and then along the A143 to Bury St Edmunds.
The work includes resurfacing, drainage improvements and safety barrier replacement between junctions 51 (Beacon Hill) and junction 47 (Woolpit).
National Highways plan to start from Monday, April 20, work overnight between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only.
The diversion route is as below with a map pictured above.
- Road users travelling westbound on the A14 should leave the A14 at junction 51.
- At junction 51, join the A140 northbound.
- Continue on the A140 to the A140/A143 roundabout.
- At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A143, following signs for Bury St Edmunds.
- Stay on the A143 and join Compiegne Way.
- Follow Compiegne Way to A14 junction 43 (St Saviours interchange).
- From here, road users can rejoin the A14 and continue eastbound or westbound.
