50 high-vis jackets for pupils at school in Woolpit thanks to housebuilder

Children at a Suffolk primary school are stepping out more safely this Walk to School Week thanks to a donation of high-visibility jackets from Tilia Homes, part of the untypical Group.

Pupils at Woolpit Primary Academy have received 50 high-vis jackets from the team at the nearby Kiln Grove development on The Street, in Woolpit, helping children stay visible to drivers during their journeys to and from school.

The initiative forms part of Tilia Homes’ wider support for Walk to School Week (May 18 to 22), with community activity taking place across developments spanning Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire.

Throughout the week, parents are welcome to stop by participating Tilia Homes developments with their children for a free healthy snack and drink on the walk home from school.

After-school refreshment sessions are being held on Thursday and Friday at Kiln Grove, in Woolpit; Brook Gardens, in Potton; Stortford Fields, in Bishop’s Stortford; Kings Park, in Cottenham; and Westhill, in Kettering.

Jon Cook, the regional managing director for untypical’s Eastern region, said: “Walk to School Week is a great opportunity to encourage healthier habits while also helping children build confidence and independence.

Walk to School Week is a national initiative encouraging children and families to travel actively to school, supporting healthier lifestyles, reduced congestion and greater environmental awareness.

The campaign also reflects Tilia Homes’ wider commitment to creating sustainable communities that promote wellbeing, encourage active lifestyles and support positive connections within the neighbourhoods it is helping to shape across the region.
