Site managers in Eastern Region recognised by NHBC

Four Bloor Homes site managers across the developer’s Eastern region based in Bury St Edmunds have been recognised as among the best in the UK after winning a top housing industry award.

Matthew Thurston at Thurston Grove, in Bury St Edmunds (pictured above); John Crewdson at Bloor Homes, at Felixstowe; Derek Lewies at Bentley Gardens, in Basildon; and Lee Burdett at Elsenham Park, in Elsenham; are celebrating a Pride in the Job 2026 Quality Award from NHBC, the UK’s largest provider of new home warranties and insurance.

Now in its 46th year, Pride in the Job is widely regarded as the most prestigious benchmark for exceptional site managers in the house-building industry.

Judging is rigorous, with assessment across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.

Thousands of inspections, with meticulous scoring and detailed verifications, have taken place to determine this year’s winners from a field of 7,500 sites, representing the top 6 per cent of UK site managers.

Terry Tedder, the regional managing director at Bloor Homes, said:  We are exceptionally proud of our Pride in the Job winners across the Eastern Region.

“This prestigious award recognises the outstanding leadership, commitment and attention to detail demonstrated by our site managers – qualities that are fundamental to achieving this level of recognition.

“However, such success is never achieved in isolation and reflects the collective efforts of the wider site team, whose dedication and professionalism are essential in maintaining the standards required to secure this accolade.

“We also acknowledge the vital contribution of our trade partners and subcontractors, whose commitment to quality and excellence helps ensure we consistently deliver homes of the highest standard to our customers.”

The commitment to quality is also reflected in the developer achieving national Five Star status from the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for the eighth consecutive year. The status recognises excellence in customer care, including the pre- and post- sale support provided by the site teams.

The Pride in the Job Quality Award winners will now compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards announced in the autumn, after which the national Supreme Award winner will be announced in January 2027.
