A14 between Newmarket and Cambridge to close for maintenance work next week

Work is set to take place along the A14 between Kentford, near Newmarket, and Stow-cum-Quy, on the outskirts of Cambridge

National Highways is set to carry out maintenance work in both directions between junction 35 and junction 39 and includes changing the overhead electronic message signs.

It is to be carried out over six nights starting on Monday, August 17, between 9pm and 5am and will involve diversions off the A14 carriageway via Kentford, Newmarket town centre and Six Mile Bottom (see maps below).

Westbound traffic will exit at junction 39 and travel west on the B1506, along Bury Road (A1304) through Newmarket. Traffic for the A14 westbound will take the A1303 to junction 36 with vehicles for the A11 southbound taking the A1304 to rejoin the A11 at Six Mile Bottom while those going eastbound will exit between junction 35 and junction 39.

Eastbound traffic will exit at junction 35 Stow-cum-Quy interchange, and travel east along Newmarket Road (A1303). A11 northbound traffic will exit at Six Mile Bottom and travel east along the A1304 and continue along Bury Road (A1304) through Newmarket, using the B1506 to join back at junction 39.
