As the festive season gets underway members of Bury Abbey Rotary dedicated their time and energy to several meaningful projects across Bury St Edmunds.

Over 30 Rotarians came together at Gatehouse, an independent charity supporting vulnerable individuals throughout East Anglia, to pack 700 Christmas boxes filled with gifts and essentials.

This collective effort helped bring joy and comfort to many.

The spirit of giving continued as members volunteered as stewards at the “Snowdash” run, organised by Brave Futures — a specialist support service for children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

Their presence helped ensure the event ran smoothly and safely.

Three enthusiastic Rotary elves also partnered with Abbeycroft Leisure to prepare Christmas activity packs.

With their teamwork and dedication, this task was completed efficiently, spreading festive cheer to local families.

In addition, Bury Abbey Rotary proudly funded a special outing for Suffolk Young Carers to enjoy the pantomime “Rapunzel ” at Bury St Edmunds Theatre Royal.
These remarkable young people face the daily challenges of caring for family members affected by physical or mental illness, disability, or substance misuse. This treat offered them a well-deserved joyful break and festive celebration.
One of the parents said: “Through these varied initiatives, Bury Abbey Rotary exemplifies the true spirit of community and generosity during the holiday season.”
